We are currently recruiting for the position of Senior Technician Shipwide for Disney Cruise Line.

As Senior Technician Shipwide, you will liaise with shipboard and shore side partners to provide technical
support for all Groups, Marketing and Crew activities as required.

You will report to the Technical Production Manager and have on average 4 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling, mentoring and training the General Technical team
  • Responsible for the operation, daily set-up and entertainment equipment maintenance
  • Responsible for stock control of ship wide show consumables
  • Assist ship wide team with the set/strike and supervision of Entertainment shows
  • Attend to emails, administration, STAR, discipline, performance reviews and other necessary paperwork as directed by the TPM
  • Partner with the Automation Engineer and Technical Production Manager to see that monthly maintenance routines are properly printed out, completed promptly and closed correctly within AMOS
  • Responsible for reporting all challenges to the TPM relating to equipment and personnel within the team; this includes ensuring an adequate back up procedure is in place and maintained to cover all show contingencies, including accident and illness of staff
  • Carry out all other duties and tasks as assigned by shipboard leadership team, including but not limited to new show installs, equipment tests, vendor support, seasonal special events and safety duties
  • Schedule and oversee the Ship Wide Technical team to cover all events outlined in the Daily Navigator
  • Review and post time clock summary report
  • Ensure staging, lighting and audio are set for appropriate functions throughout the Entertainment spaces ship wide (with the exclusion of the Walt Disney Theatre)
  • Collect, receive, load, and manage inventory for CO2 product
  • Preventative maintenance and routine repair of appropriate ship wide equipment
  • Facilitate department meetings
  • Provide leadership for all direct reports; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    -Managing personnel files
    -Conducting performance reviews, including discipline as needed
    -Ensuring Project Onboard compliance
    -Monitoring STAR, while making necessary corrections
    -Onboard training, new hire and ongoing
    -Succession planning
    -Crew recognition and communication

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum three-five years experience in a technical role within a theatrical operation
  • Ability to perform in environments that have second-hand smoke, pyrotechnics, chemical smoke, haze, fog, dry ice, and other special effects, required
  • Proven experience with Yamaha M7CL Digital Audio consoles (M7CL &
    QL series)
  • Proven experience with GrandMA & Hog
  • Proven experience with wireless mic systems and in-ear monitoring systems
  • Proven experience leading and overseeing a theatre Tech team in regards to day-to-day responsibilities, performance, scheduling, development, and training, required
  • Experience with audio visual and projection systems, required
  • Ability to work at heights and with heavy equipment, required experience with the operation and maintenance of large scale technical theatre operations or multi conferencing environment, preferred
  • Trade school/college diploma, preferred
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and organizational skills

This is a shipboard role

You must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman’s visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
